Report says DoD must choose open-source EHR

The Center for a New American Security released a report today titled “Reforming the Military Health System”. The benefits that DoD would gain from an open source EHR solution is a major theme in the report.

Reflections on the 9th Annual Open Source Think Tank

I recently attended the 9th Annual Open Source Think Tank.  This was OSEHRA’s third year of participation, and it has been quite interesting to watch continued growth of the open source community across so many business areas.  
A new Community Leadership track provided lessons on community management planning and strategy, highlighting the differences between horizontal and vertical communities.

The OSEHRA Board of Directors has expanded its membership by adding two new Directors at the last board meeting Thursday, 15 August 2013.

The House FY14 Bill contains $344 million in funding to jump start a single, integrated DoD and VA EHR System

The House Appropriations Subcommittee in Military Construction and Veterans Affairs issued FY14 Bill on May 14, 2014. The bill includes language on a single, integrated electronic health record system as shown in their summary below.

The new phase of our mission continues and expands as we conclude a very satisfying first Summit and Workshop.  I would like to thank the community of 350 people who participated in the event as speakers, panel members, inquisitors and staff.
