The House FY14 Bill contains $344 million in funding to jump start a single, integrated DoD and VA EHR System

The House Appropriations Subcommittee in Military Construction and Veterans Affairs issued FY14 Bill on May 14, 2014. The bill includes language on a single, integrated electronic health record system as shown in their summary below.

CRUD Services & JSONP Support

After a few weeks of development and some great input and feedback from folks in the community, I'm happy to announce the completion of some CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete - the 4 types of basic operation any persistent database supports) services in MDWS. There are both REST and SOAP based APIs. For the icing, I even added some JSONP support in MDWS to enable pure Javascript implementations. Yay!!

Results of first WebEx from the Genomics Advisory Panel

This was a first organizational meeting that was sparsely attended, but we had great contributions from Dr. Jessica Tenenbaum (Duke Bioinformatics Core) and Dr. Gholson Lyon (Cold Sping Harbor Laboratory; Stony Brook University and Utah Foundation for Biomedical Research).

These are the major outcomes from the meeting that we feel need to be addressed:

(1) Engage with experts in the integration of 'omic' data into the electronic health record - the HL7 clinical genomics was mentioned. We need to identify existing approaches, standards, file formats, etc in a thorough manner.
