As many of you know, VA recently released a flurry of RFIs, including "VistA MUMPS Analysis Tooling”, “VistA Commercialization” and “Supplemental Commercial Health Information Technology Platform”. OSEHRA requested an extension on the first of these, but did not see the extension in time, and already submitted our response at Noon today. The responses are now due on 4/19, 4/26, and 4/25, respectively.
In October, the OSEHRA Community responded to an RFI in support of VA's Digital Health Platform Strategy (DHP). According to the Office of Information and Technology, "DHP is a cloud-based technology platform integrating Veteran data from VA, military and commercial electronic health records (EHRs), applications, devices and wearables to a Veteran’s healthcare team in real-time." Very recently, VA launched a website that shows the vision of DHP and provides individual story lines to illustrate the process.
I would like to call your attention to an article written by Roger Baker just published in Federal Computer Week, which was picked up by OSEHRA as a Google Alert.
The article "Open source is so much more than free code" underscores the challenges and benefits of embracing open source approaches, and it highlights how OSEHRA has used software management and community collaboration to become a leader in open source efforts.
Please join us for two OSEHRA Community Calls regarding VA's recently released RFI for a digital health platform. As we have done in the past, we are hosting the community calls to facilitate discussion and to coordinate the most comprehensive response.
On September 22, I will be participating in a Health IT panel at the House of Sweden in connection with a visit by Sweden’s Minister for Health Care, Public Health and Sport– Mr. Gabriel Wikström. This is a great opportunity to increase awareness of the OSEHRA Community and to expand our global connections. I am honored to participate.
I would like to thank Roger Maduro calling our attention to a new program described in his e-mail below. I encourage all community members to respond to this RFI. Roger offered to help and feel free to reach out to him.
