Community Call on Cybersecurity for VistA

To members of OSEHRA Community,

Dr. Paul Tibbits, MD., DCIO Architecture, Strategy, and Design, Department of Veterans Affairs raised the following questions on cybersecurity for VistA.   We have scheduled a community call for Wednesday, March 16 at 1:00 PM Eastern to provide community response to him.

Community Call for OMB Open Source Policy

The Office of Management of Budget (OMB) is planning to develop a Source Code Policy for the Federal Government - see draft policy.

As you can see, OSEHRA is mentioned prominently in the document.  We certainly intend to provide useful and actionable comments to OMB.  Therefore, we have scheduled a community call for Thursday, March 17 at 1:00 Eastern in order to organize our response to this major development in the open source community.

Department of Veterans Affairs Soliciting Suggestions on Managing eHMP Program

As stated in last week's Request for Information (RFI) soliciting input regarding eHMP management, VA is facing two types of challenges; agile development and community collaboration. 

On behalf of our open source community stakeholders, OSEHRA is undertaking to facilitate a joint community response. The response is due COB February 17, 2016.

VA OI&T Has Announced New Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP)

The Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), has announced a new Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP) to replace the Project Management Accountability System (PMAS) for the development and management of IT projects. The Veteran-focused Integration Process (VIP) is a Lean-Agile framework that services the interest of Veterans through the efficient streamlining of activities within the VA enterprise.  It is designed to increase the speed of delivery of high-quality, secure IT capabilities to Veterans.
