Innovation Award: In Recognition of Impactful Contributions to the Open Source Community

Sam Habiel, RPh., Director of Technology, VistA Expertise Network

The 2016 Innovation Award went to Sam Habiel, Director of Technology at VistA Expertise Network in recognition of his outstanding innovations and contributions to the open source community.  Previously, he was a pharmacist at Indian Health Services, a Clinical Applications Manager, and a VISTA EMR Implementation Consultant.  He is known for his creative problem solving and innovative ideas.

Leadership Award: In Recognition of Leadership and Pivotal Support to the Open Source Community

Keith Magoon, Senior Program Manager, OIT and Project Manager for VIMM
Robert Silverman, Pharmacist, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

The 2016 Government Leadership Award was a dual award to Keith Magoon and Robert Silverman in recognition of their outstanding leadership and key support to the open source community.   Keith Magoon, Senior Program Manager at OIT and Project Manager for VIMM has been working to increase collaboration between VA and the open source community.  Robert Silverman, Pharmacist at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, has made a large impact on VA Pharmacy and Clinical Informatics.

Lifetime Achievement Award: In Recognition of Career-long Achievements and Contributions to the Open Source Community

Nancy Anthracite, M.D., President and Chief Medical Officer, World VistA

The Lifetime Achievement Award went to Nancy Anthracite, M.D., President and Chief Medical Officer of World VistA in recognition of her career-long accomplishments and contributions to the open source community.  She graduated from Boston University School of Medicine and worked in a medical clerkship at the Department of Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center.  Additionally, she worked in private practice in Florida, has 14 years of medical practice in Washington D.C. area seeing patients at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office, and has worked with and supported World VistA since its inception. World VistA is a volunteer-based open source community that works with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
