We had a lively discussion of some of the shortcomings of Meaningful Use Stage 2 implementation this week.
A recording of the call can be accessed here: https://osehra.webex.com/osehra/lsr.php?AT=pb&SP=EC&rID=6682017&rKey=1949d978dc8b60ef
The brief presentation that kicked it off and the white paper that started my thought processes are attached.
Our conversation was so lively that we ran right up to the end of our hour and I didn't get to solicit any input for future topics of discussion. Please feel free to bring me any topics that you would like to explore in more depth and any suggestions for presenters from whom you would like to hear. I am currently working on getting some clinical users from the West Virginia state hospital system to speak to us about their experiences implementing and using VistA. WV is running VistA as an integrated system in all of the state hospitals, nursing homes, and psychiatric facilities, and has been doing so for more than 7 years. It is the largest and most mature non-VA VistA implementation in the country, and they have a wealth of lessons learned. I will kee you posted on when we can expect to hear from them.
