Medical Device Integration Adapter

This group is focused on the development of a Java-based medical device adapter which integrates into Open Source VistA with standard based medical device to allow the receipt, processing, and persistence of standards based medical device measurements (initially HL7 Version 2.7/IHE PCD and HL7 FHIR).

My thinking has more to do...

My thinking has more to do with an "Open Platform" approach where device interoperability using open standard based API's are important in order to interface with VistA, ED, OR, ICU, and other applications that are currently part of the ecosystem. Not how medical device options will replace VistA per se, and not to be completely VistA centric.

Hi team:

For the next two we to finalize how we plan to identify the patient at the
point-of-care, This information is required to look up the patient identity
prior to persisting medical device results into the configured file/table
based on the type of device. That itself makes the issue of consistency and
standards adoption more tenuous.
The item I would like propose for discussion it the patient-to-device(s)
association that determines how a patient may be simultaneously monitored
by several devices.
