RFI Imminent for IHS HIT Modernization

Don Hewitt's picture

On July 24, the attached RFI was issued, but it was cancelled almost immediately.  We have spoken with IHS, and the withdrawal was for some internal review and coordination.  The expectation is that there will be only minor changes, and the RFI should be re-released in the very near future.

This will be an opportunity for OSEHRA community members to highlight their capabilities, as well as establish the potential benefits of open source solutions over the HIT life cycle.  While OSEHRA does not compete in this type of procurement, our plan is to provide a high-level response similar to the responses we made to recent VA RFIs.  The RFI is deliberately structured so that partial responses are acceptable, so we encourage all OSHERA community members to respond in their areas of expertise.  We do not anticipate having a community conference call on this RFI, but if we receive requests from the community, we can certainly schedule something.  If you have questions or comments, please send them to info@osehra.org

Thanks Don, looking forwards to seeing what comes out of this one. It looks like there's a lot of room to make some real progress here, and the flexible solution space they're proposing could provide the kind of environment necessary for some truly revolutionary positive change.
