OSEHRA Certification Tutorials Blog II

Stewardship of the code entrusted to its care is an important part of the mission of OSEHRA. This stewardship requires that OSEHRA take care that the code it accepts and certifies meets community standards for understandability, usability and correctness. Achieving this is not easy and the processes and procedures used can be difficult to apply.

This week in Visualization OSPG

On this afternoon's teleconference of the Visualization Work Group from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. EDT, we will discuss the current status of the production version of VIVIAN; options for next steps including certification of the product and visualization of other versions of VistA in addition to OSEHRA VistA; and the status of the DBA database.

Certification Working Group Report Out

On Tuesday, October 1st, we held another in our series of web conferences for the Software Quality Certification Working Group. At the meeting, I presented a few slides that I hope captured our current state and laid out some options going forward. I think we have some really good opportunities to advance the certification process. First, we have a number of OTJ submissions that we could take a look at -- I tried to capture some pros and cons for each of them, but you may have others.

As I write this blog post, we are exactly 20 days from the Second Annual OSEHRA Summit. I think it is time to reflect a little on what we've been working on and what we have accomplished as we prepare ourselves for the next 12 months of effort.

MTools Peer Review

Recently I had the chance to do a peer review of the MTools submission on the OSEHRA Technical Journal. The premise of the submission is a plugin for the extremely popular and widely used Eclipse IDE that will allow you to do VistA development. It builds on the already existing MTools project created by the VA by adding new features such as hierarchical directory structures and also a better debugging solution that provides the availability to do code traces.
