VistA Audit: OpenVistA vs WorldVistA

VistA Audit: OpenVistA vs WorldVistA

Background: define a baseline VistA by querying deployed VistAs about their configurations and dynamic state and comparing the results. A work-in-progress. Three reports comparing WorldVistA (Latest Release/George Lilly's) and OpenVistA (Caregraf): Packages WVvsOVPackages In general the packages are the same though WV is more up to date. Both are behind FOIA (see dates in builds in the packages report), in some cases a lot behind - dates of 2006 or 2008 and FOIA is at 2011/2012. Files WVvsOVFiles WV has more up to date KIDs-released concept files - they're bigger. Lexicon (757), VA Product (50.68) ... This means it has later versions of the national drug file etc. It also has the standard document types missing from OV. However WV lacks any VUIDs distributed through "Master File Server (MFS)", managed by "Enterprise Reference Terminology (ERT)". I have partially updated Caregraf's OpenVistA with VUIDs from my concept server. See an example here: CG VistA 120.83 . For the time being, I think a KIDs-based alternative to MFS should be supported by VistA's outside the VA. There could be a multi-package build that rolls up non-drug file VUID updates. Builds WVvsOVBuilds I isolated "non multi builds that lack package links": builds with package links will be pulled in in a Packages Report while "multi-package" builds need special handling. Sometimes the lack of a package link is releaser error - see the list at the bottom of the report - but sometimes it's by "design". Neither George's CCR RPC (C0C*1.1*0) nor my FMQL (CGFMQL ...) have package links. Unlike WorldVistA, Medsphere doesn't make many multi-package builds but they rarely makes a package for their enhancements either. Instead they create "single-package" builds which lack packages! A question going forward is whether ALL SINGLE PACKAGE BUILDS should have PACKAGE LINKS? Note too that Medsphere marks some local/MSC-only builds as "National". All these audit reports are a work in progress. Any comments, most welcome.

I second George's proposal for the term: "VistA Analytics".
It is still descriptive of what the tools are doing, and a lot
friendlier than "Audit". :-)

"VistA Analytics" would indeed be aligned with what
"Google Analyitics" do for web sites, for example:
http://www.google.com/analytics/

My 2 cents
